Belarusian women's league players ask country's FA to verify gender of player; former coach claimed her to be man
  • Belarusian women's Premier League players have sent an open letter to the president of the country's FA Vladimir Bazanov in which they ask to verify the gender of Dinamo-BGU striker Salimata Simpore, according to Tribuna.com.
  • The 33-year-old's gender has been questioned after a number of complaints about Simpore's physical superiority over the league's other players.
  • What's more, the players who have shared the dressing room with Salimata before say that they have never seen her naked.
  • As per the source, the Burkinabe was confirmed to be a woman after she underwent a gender test in Africa a few years ago.
  • Still, Marcelo Frigherio, former head coach of the Equatorial Guinea women’s national team, previously claimed Simpore to be a man.
  • In their response, Belarusian FA said that Salimata won't be excluded from the competition as Salimata passed the certification ahead of the season.
