Ciro Immobile closes in on all-time Serie A record after hat-trick vs Hellas Verona
  • Ciro Immobile added three more goals to his tally during the Serie A fixture at Hellas Verona which ended in a 5-1 win for Lazio.
  • The 30-year-old's overall record is now 34 goals in 35 league fixtures, and he's three goals clear of Cristiano Ronaldo who won't lose hope of catching up with him in the last two games.
  • Immobile also has a milestone he might yet achieve: he's only two goals away from the all-time Serie A record set by Gonzalo Higuain.
  • The Argentine, who represented Napoli at the time, found the net 36 times back in the 2014-15 season.
  • Lazio will take on Brescia and Napoli in the remaining games, and Immobile is likely to be given a chance to beat this record.
  • Of course, Ciro was hugely helped by another record matched by his club this season: they've earned 18 penalties so far, with Immobile converting 13 of them.
