  • Zlatan Ibrahimovic was allegedly a victim of ethnic abuse by a group of Serbian fans during AC Milan’s 2-1 win over Red Star Belgrade in the first leg of their Europa League Round of 32 clash.
  • As he was sitting on the bench, some fans just 20 metres behind him taunted him with abuses like ‘You p***y’, ‘stinky Balija’ and “I f*** you in your mouth”.
  • Zlatan has Balkan roots through a Catholic Croat mother and Muslim Bosniak father and the word ‘Balija’ is an offensive insult against Bosnian people.
  • However, Ibrahimovic did not react to the fans’ jibes and just sat on his seat watching the match.
  • In the end, Milan prevailed thanks to a winner from Theo Hernandez – putting Zlatan’s side in the driving seat heading into the second leg.
