"When on the pitch you show a millionth of what the real champions have done ... but you decide to 'risk' an interview after scoring a goal against San Marino. Genius misunderstood," Andrea Pirlo’s girlfriend Valentina Baldini has posted on Instagram as a response to Federico Bernardeschi who recently mentioned her parter among the reasons for his mediocre season at Juventus.
"In the national team I play in my natural role and I enjoy it. In the blue [Italy NT] they make me risk the game, not with Juventus," Bernardeschi told Rai Sport after scoring in Italy's 7-0 friendly win over San Marino last week.
"Allegri's return? He is great, both in managing the group and in achieving results."
Baldini, for her part, also has compared Federico's reaction to Pirlo's sacking from Juve with the ones of Gianluigi Buffon and Cristiano Ronaldo who thanked Andrea for his job in Turin instead of criticising him.
As a reminder, Bernardeschi only scored two goals in 27 Serie A appearances for the Bianconeri in the 2020/21 season.
