During France’s 2-2 draw against Portugal in the Euro 2020, Karim Benzema was asked to reunite with former Real Madrid teammate Cristiano Ronaldo.
The two shared a chat after the game and when asked about what they spoke about, the Frenchman said: “It's nice to see him again, we have come a long way together.
“We both played eight or nine years at Real Madrid, we scored goals, won trophies. We spoke, we wished each other good luck for the future with our clubs and in the tournament and especially to continue to have fun on the field and continue to make the difference.”
Benzema and Ronaldo both scored two goals each in the game – but it was the current Madrid striker who won the man of the match award for his impressive performance.
The Real Madrid man's goals were his first for France since his return to the national team – as he had last scored a brace in their win over Armenia back in 2015 before being banished for some personal controversies.
