About 60 clubs ready to join the Super League - Mundo Deportivo
The organizers of the European Super League continue their efforts to establish the tournament, according to Mundo Deportivo.
Discussions have reportedly been held with over 100 European clubs, and approximately 60 of them have expressed their willingness to participate in the project.
The Super League would include three divisions:
Star Division: The top tier, featuring 16 elite clubs from Spain, England, Italy, Germany, and France, along with top teams from Portugal and the Netherlands.
Gold Division: The second tier, also expected to have 16 clubs.
Blue Division: The third tier, featuring 32 teams, with an annual relegation of 20 clubs.
Some clubs have proposed that the champions of national leagues should qualify for the top division, regardless of their overall stature. For instance, if Lille were to win Ligue 1, it would earn a spot in the Star Division. This aspect is still under discussion.
Organizers are confident that not only Real Madrid and Barcelona will join, but also other clubs that initially supported the idea but later withdrew. Anticipated participants include major English clubs, Juventus, and other top teams from Italy, France, and Portugal.
However, some notable clubs like PSG, Manchester City, Bayern Munich, and Inter might oppose the project.
Reducing the number of matches (the Super League champion would currently need to play 19 games).
Securing broadcast deals and resolving streaming issues.
The tournament could potentially begin in September 2025 or 2026.
