Belgium sack head coach Domenico Tedesco after disappointing run
The Belgian Football Association (RBFA) has announced the immediate departure of head coach Domenico Tedesco, following a disappointing stint in charge of the national team.
Tedesco, who was appointed in February 2023, oversaw Belgium's qualification for EURO 2024 but failed to make a significant impact in the tournament.
The team finished second in their group and were eliminated by France in the Round of 16.
The Italian coach's tenure was also marked by a lackluster Nations League campaign, with four losses from six group stage matches, including a 1-0 defeat to Italy.
In a statement, the RBFA confirmed that the decision to part ways with Tedesco was made after a "detailed evaluation" and had been approved by the Board of Directors. The search for a new head coach is now underway.
Tedesco's departure marks the end of a disappointing chapter for the Belgian national team, and fans will be hoping that the new coach can bring a fresh perspective and success to the team.
