Arsenal eye summer swoop for Matheus Cunha - reports

8 February, 10:48

Wolves star Matheus Cunha is set to be at the center of a summer transfer battle, with several top clubs already expressing interest in signing the Brazilian forward.

According to sources close to the club, Cunha has agreed to a new deal with Wolves that includes a £62.5m release clause, which will come into effect in July.

The agreement was reached after a verbal understanding was reached in early January, following some tense negotiations over a release clause.

With Cunha's future now clear, attention is turning to his next move.

Arsenal have had the striker on their shortlist for months and are believed to be keen on signing him as part of their summer recruitment drive.

Manchester United also expressed interest in Cunha in December, although no formal approach was made in January.

Nottingham Forest are also reportedly in the running, with the club's ambitious owners, the Marinakis family, keen to make a statement signing in the summer.

Cunha's versatility and ability to play in different positions are thought to be major attractions for potential suitors.

While it's too early to say where Cunha will end up next, one thing is clear: the battle for his signature is set to be one of the most intense transfer sagas of the summer.
