Barcelona reportedly rejected Joao Felix loan in January
Joao Felix’s agent reportedly offered Barcelona a loan deal in January, but the club turned it down due to financial restrictions. The Portuguese forward eventually joined AC Milan instead.
Felix has always admired Barcelona’s style of play. “I have always wanted to play here,” he previously said. Despite his strong desire, the club could not make room in their wage bill, according to SPORT.
Hansi Flick and sporting director Deco prioritised signing a versatile forward who could play as a winger or centre-forward. Their main target was Marcus Rashford, but his loan move collapsed due to Barcelona’s inability to free up wages.
Felix accepted AC Milan’s offer, partly influenced by the presence of a Portuguese coach. He now faces a six-month spell in Italy, while Chelsea prepare to sell him in the summer.
