Sevilla President slams Real Madrid over 'unacceptable' referee complaint
Sevilla president Del Nido Carrasco has strongly condemned Real Madrid's formal complaint to the Spanish authorities, accusing the club of launching an "unacceptable" attack on the integrity of referees and the competition.
Real Madrid's complaint, which was sent to the Spanish FA (RFEF) and Spain's High Council for Sports, alleged that referees, including video assistant referees (VAR), are biased against them and that decisions have been "rigged" and "completely discredited".
Carrasco vehemently disagreed with Real Madrid's stance, stating that the club's accusations call into question the honor of the referees and the competition.
He emphasized that such behavior must be denounced, as it constitutes an attack on football itself.
Real Madrid's complaint was prompted by their 1-0 defeat at Espanyol on Saturday, during which they felt that Espanyol defender Carlos Romero should have been sent off for an earlier challenge on Kylian Mbappe.
However, Carrasco's strong rebuke suggests that Real Madrid's actions will not go unchallenged, and the controversy is likely to continue.
