'They can put a billion on the table, I won't sign': Cabella's regrets over his aborted move to Montpellier
Losc midfielder Remy Cabella had always imagined finishing his career in Montpellier. However, although he returned to MHSC for the remainder of the 2021-2022 season after his stint in Russia, Laurent Nicollin did not extend his contract during the inter-season. Three years on, the Lille native admits he still doesn’t understand his former president’s attitude.
It’s an unfinished love story. While Cabella has flourished at Losc since the summer of 2022, his dream was always to end his career in Montpellier. A key figure in the Herault club’s 2012 French championship win, he returned to the Mosson ten years later after his time at Krasnodar, Russia, to help out at the end of the 2021-2022 season. That stint should have led to a new contract, but things didn’t go as planned.
