Brighton coach Hurzeler on Chelsea's defeat: 'I wouldn't say we played perfectly'

15 February, 09:15

Brighton's head coach, Fabian Hurzeler, has commented on his team's unexpected 3-0 victory over Chelsea in the 25th round of the English Premier League.

"I wouldn't say we played perfectly. In the beginning, we struggled, and after the first goal, we became too passive. We defended well, and that was the key today. Compactness, intensity, and teamwork were what mattered most."

On Mitoma's goal: "Sometimes it's hard to explain the actions of special players. It was a special moment, and he deserved it because he works hard every day. He is fully dedicated to this club, and I am happy for him.

"For me, the 0-7 loss to Nottingham Forest is still relevant. But it’s just one game, and we shouldn't overanalyze it right now. It happens, and we feel sorry for the fans because they deserve more. But everyone worked very hard to give them a performance they deserved today.

"It's important not to focus too much on the positive moments. It's important to understand why we have these moments, due to hard training. If we stick to the standards, we’ll see what comes out of it," the German coach told.
