Neymar leads Brazilian league stars in protest against artificial turf
The Brazilian league has grown in recent years, attracting stars like Neymar, Coutinho, and Thiago Silva. However, Neymar has led a campaign against artificial turf, criticising its use in the tournament.
“It’s absurd that we have to discuss synthetic turf. With the size and history of our football, this shouldn’t even be an option. A bad pitch should be improved, not replaced with artificial turf,” stated Neymar, Thiago Silva, Coutinho, Depay, and other stars on Instagram.
They argue that while clubs invest millions in signings like Memphis Depay and Neymar, little has been done to improve playing conditions. “Clubs spend huge amounts on top players, yet we still see stadiums with poor-quality pitches. It’s unacceptable at this level,” Neymar added.
Comparing Brazil’s league to Europe’s, they insist that quality pitches and facilities are essential for competing at the highest level. “In the best leagues in the world, players are heard, and investments are made to ensure quality conditions. It’s about respect for those who play and those who watch,” Thiago Silva stated.
“If Brazil wants to lead the world football market, the first step is ensuring top-quality pitches and training conditions,” they concluded.
