Ansu Fati and Pau Victor set to feature in Copa Catalunya during international break
The Copa Catalunya semifinals take place during the international break, further diminishing the competition's already declining relevance. The Barcelona vs Espanyol derby will be played at Ciutat Esportiva Dani Jarque, a venue with under 2,000 seats—highlighting the tournament's low profile. Initially, the fixture was mistakenly listed at Municipal del Bon Pastor, which holds just 200 spectators.
Once a more prestigious event, the tournament has lost its significance over the years. The other semifinal, Girona vs Andorra, is set for April 1 or 2, reflecting scheduling difficulties.
Hansi Flick will have just seven senior players available: Inaki Pena, Szczesny, Balde, Eric Garcia, Gavi, Ansu Fati, and Pau Victor. Balde and Szczesny may be rested, leaving Flick reliant on youth players.
However, even the B team is affected by international call-ups, meaning a mix of reserves and academy talents will likely make up the squad. It will be an opportunity for Ansu and Pau Victor, who have struggled for game time.
