Casillas: 'Manuel Neuer is role model for all goalkeepers'
17 March, 20:45
Iker Casillas, one of the greatest goalkeeping legends in football history, has spoken in glowing terms about Manuel Neuer. The former Real Madrid captain and 2010 World Cup winner praised the Bayern shot-stopper while reflecting on his own career and the moment he had to hang up his gloves.
In an interview at the Beckenbauer Cup, Casillas hailed Neuer’s remarkable career:
"Manu is a role model for all keepers and one of the best goalkeepers in football history. I’d tell him to keep playing as long as he enjoys it - until he can’t anymore.
"I’d have loved to play longer myself, but I had that misfortune in my life (heart attack). Still, as long as he feels good and can play, he should carry on." Casillas said.
