The season is nearing its decisive months, with Champions League knockout stages, European qualification, and relegation battles at the forefront. While clubs are already eyeing the summer market, Real Madrid are postponing their decisions until May. However, their scouting team, led by Juni Calafat, continues to monitor emerging talent.

Relevo reports that Real Madrid’s new mission is to find the "new Modric." They know no one can match the Croatian’s legacy, but they are looking for a similar profile: a creative, talented, and hard-working midfielder. At 39 (turning 40 in September), Modric is nearing the end of his career, but he remains crucial to the team, having played over 2,000 minutes this season, with 4 goals and 7 assists.

Modric, who was key in the decisive Champions League match against Atletico Madrid, hopes to continue playing until the 2026 World Cup and is seeking a one-year contract renewal. However, Real Madrid are already preparing for a future without him. They had hoped Arda Guler would take over, but he has leaned more towards attacking play, with few chances under Ancelotti.

While Modric will be irreplaceable, the club are determined to find a player with similar qualities. Their scouting efforts are already underway. Additionally, Real Madrid are working on other deals, including a potential move for Trent Alexander-Arnold next summer and plans to sign a new central defender, with William Saliba, whose contract at Arsenal expires in 2027, emerging as a target.
