Chelsea have 'option' to send Sancho back to Manchester United
Chelsea have the flexibility to send winger Jadon Sancho back to Manchester United, despite initially agreeing to an obligation to sign him permanently, according to journalist Ben Jacobs.
The Blues can exercise this option based on performance-based criteria, which would require them to pay a fee ranging from £6m to just under £10m.
This fee is comprised of wage coverage and a flat fee.
Sancho joined Chelsea on loan from Manchester United last summer, with the understanding that the Blues would sign him permanently at the end of the season if they finished higher than 14th in the Premier League.
However, Chelsea have been underwhelmed by Sancho's performances, which have yielded just two goals and six assists in 28 games.
The 24-year-old has admitted his form has "annoyed" him, and it appears Chelsea are considering buying their way out of the agreement to sign him permanently.
If they choose to do so, Sancho would return to Manchester United, bringing an end to his loan spell at Stamford Bridge.
