Rice explains how 'horse' nickname started at Arsenal
Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice has revealed the origin of his unusual nickname "horse," which was coined by his teammate Oleksandr Zinchenko.
According to Rice, Zinchenko started calling him "horse" due to his running style, likening it to that of a horse galloping back and forth.
Rice shared the story on the England Generations podcast, saying: "I've never had a nickname until I went to Arsenal. Everyone at Arsenal calls me horse... even the nutritionist says 'morning horse'."
The nickname gained traction when Jorginho also started using it. Rice found it amusing, especially when Zinchenko sent him a video of a horse running on a beach, saying "this is you." Rice described the gesture as "so random."
The lighthearted nickname has become a part of Rice's identity within the Arsenal squad, showcasing the camaraderie and banter among the players.
