Barnes on whether Man United have worsened under Amorim: 'If you blame only the coach, players avoid responsibility'
John Barnes believes that Ruben Amorim is not solely responsible for Manchester United’s struggles.
Has Manchester United gotten worse with Amorim?
"Well, it’s not just his fault, right? Sometimes you have to look at the players and the entire team. When Van Gaal was there, he was sacked. Does that mean he was a terrible coach? What about Mourinho? Moyes?
"It’s not always about the coaches. You can’t keep blaming them. If you do, nothing will change. If you keep changing managers, and then those managers succeed elsewhere, how bad were they really?
"The responsibility for unity and harmony falls on everyone. But if you constantly blame the coach, everyone else avoids accountability – the players, the management. They just say, "It's the coach’s fault," – said the former Liverpool player.
