Harry Kane on winning Ballon d'Or: 'I scored over 40 goals but I’d never have won Ballon d'Or'
Harry Kane of Bayern Munich is undoubtedly one of the finest centre-forwards in world football. The 31-year-old has been delivering at the highest level for over a decade, consistently scoring at least 22 goals in competitive matches across the last eleven seasons in both England and Germany.
Kane hopes that collective success will at last propel him into contention for individual accolades. The 31-year-old has his sights set, among other honours, on the Ballon d'Or - the most prestigious individual award in international football.
"I felt it last season already - I scored over 40 goals. But I’d never have won the Ballon d'Or, of course, because we didn’t secure the team trophies," Kane remarked on Thursday during a press conference ahead of England’s Nations League clash with Albania.
This year Kane appears poised to finally break his title drought, with Bayern Munich on the verge of clinching Bundesliga. In the Champions League, too, the German heavyweights remain firmly in contention.
