Mikel Merino jokes about pay rise: 'I’ll ask for attacker’s contract'

Arsenal’s holding midfielder Mikel Merino has quipped that he’ll request a salary bump due to his success in a new role.
Following Kai Havertz’s injury, Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta had to shift Merino into an attacking position, and the Spaniard hasn’t let him down.
Since mid-February, Merino has netted four goals, including a match-winner against Chelsea last weekend, and the 28-year-old Spaniard is rather chuffed with himself.
"Does Arsenal need to buy a striker now? That’s a question for Arteta and the new sporting director.
"But I’ll do one thing: I’ll ask him for an attacker’s contract because they earn more, and now I’m playing two roles," Merino was quoted as saying by Mirror.
