Dean Huijsen made his debut for Spain in the UEFA Nations League quarter-final against the Netherlands, replacing the injured Pau Cubarsi. The 19-year-old central defender impressed, showing he’s ready for regular call-ups under coach Luis de la Fuente.

In just over a year, Huijsen has gone from an unknown to one of the most promising defenders, earning the trust of AFC Bournemouth coach Andoni Iraola. He has become a key figure in the team’s strong Premier League season, contributing defensively and scoring goals thanks to his height and powerful shots. His performance has caught the attention of bigger clubs, but Bournemouth are aware they may not be able to keep him much longer.

However, according to El Nacional, Barcelona have no interest in signing him. Despite Joan Laporta and Deco seeing his potential, coach Hans-Dieter Flick has rejected the idea, preferring other central defenders like Pau Cubarsi and Ronald Araujo.

After hearing Barcelona’s stance, Huijsen has offered himself to Real Madrid, who are willing to meet Bournemouth’s €50m asking price. With injuries to Eder Militao and David Alaba, and Antonio Rudiger’s age, the Dutch-Spanish defender is now a target for Madrid.
