Thomas Tuchel: ‘Bellingham must play within a structure’
Thomas Tuchel has urged Jude Bellingham to be more disciplined and save his energy for decisive moments. The England head coach believes Bellingham tried to do too much during Euro 2024 and needs to play more economically.
“Bellingham is always ready to give everything, but we need to help him play within a structure,” Tuchel said. “He can still have the same impact, or maybe even more, if he saves energy for key moments.”
Despite this critique, Tuchel praised Bellingham’s leadership, calling him a team player who always makes a difference. “He’s very emotional on the pitch and hates to lose. His hunger and desire to win are clear. We’ll help him channel that.”
Tuchel also reflected on England’s struggles at the Euros, questioning why they lost their structure in the second half and struggled to impact the game with wingers. “We need to find the wingers in open spaces and be quicker with our delivery,” Tuchel noted.
Regarding his adaptation to international football, Tuchel admitted, “I have to adapt to the rhythm, but I will learn and push the players.”
