Anthony Gordon withdraws from England squad after injury setback
23 March, 10:51
Newcastle United winger Anthony Gordon has withdrawn from the England squad ahead of World Cup qualifier against Latvia due to a hip injury.
Gordon picked up the injury after coming on as a substitute during England’s 2-0 win over Albania at Wembley on Friday. Following the match, manager Thomas Tuchel admitted the situation was 'a bit worrying.' The 24-year-old underwent a scan on Saturday before returning to his club for further assessment.
The injury setback comes just after Gordon earned his 10th cap for the Three Lions, having replaced Marcus Rashford late in the match against Albania.
