Atletico have already started looking for a replacement for Griezmann and is targeting Alex Baena from Villarreal. According to AS, the "Rojiblancos" believe the 23-year-old player would fit perfectly into head coach Diego Simeone's system.
To secure the transfer, Atletico will need to be persistent, as there is expected to be significant interest in the midfielder from Premier League clubs. Baena’s release clause is set at 60 million euros, and the final transfer fee is expected to be around 50 million euros.
Baena has played 141 matches for Villarreal, scoring 25 goals and providing 37 assists. He won the Europa League with the "Yellow Submarine" in the 2020/21 season.
