De Bruyne: 'Better to play in Nations League Division B'
23 March, 09:38
Belgium national team midfielder Kevin De Bruyne, ahead of the Nations League playoff second leg against Ukraine, suggested that it might be better for the Red Devils to drop down a division in the tournament.
"Of course, you always want to win to build confidence. But if you stay in Division A and lose a lot of matches, then maybe it’s better to play in Division B. There’d be more teams at our level, and we could win more games, which is also important for the rankings.
"Because the more you lose, the lower you drop in those rankings, and that can cause problems at the European Championship and World Cup. The key thing is making it into the top seed for the draw," Kevin said.
