Jaap Stam believes that Shaw has no future at United: 'It might be best to plan for team without him'
Manchester United legend Jaap Stam believes that head coach Ruben Amorim should plan the club’s future without defender Luke Shaw.
Recent years have been plagued by injuries for Shaw, who has managed just 98 minutes of action this season.
In Stam’s view, as Amorim rebuilds the team, he simply cannot rely on such an injury-prone player.
"Football clubs always need to think ahead. You have to move forward with a team you can trust and with players who are available every week," Stam told talkSPORT.
"I like Luke Shaw as a player - he’s got a lot of quality - but he’s injured so often, leaving the manager with tough choices. When you’re building a team, you depend on players who are available most of the time and can handle the demands of intense football.
"I don’t mean any disrespect to Shaw, but the club needs to decide what’s right for the future. It might be best to plan for a team without him, " Jaap Stam shared.
