Luciano Spalletti remains optimistic after Italy's defeat to Germany: 'We accepted the challenge and gave our all'

23 March, 17:01

In the first leg of their Nations League quarterfinal, Italy have lost 1-2. Today, the teams will face off again.

"This is one of those defeats where we have to move forward. We accepted the challenge and gave our all, playing man-to-man against players whose physical conditioning is intimidating. We did well defending and creating goal-scoring opportunities. At times, we had issues, but we hardly allowed anything at our goal, except for a couple of moments due to lapses in concentration. We did what we had to do, and we had chances to win.

"We will try to repeat the same from the start, and I’m confident that if we keep the same mentality as we had on Thursday, the result will be different. We’ll have the chance to show creativity with some different players in the lineup, who will help us with their individual qualities," said the Italy national team head coach Luciano Spalletti in an interview with Vivo Azzurro TV.
