At the end of August, 1. FSV Mainz 05 have loaned central defender Moritz Jenz from VfL Wolfsburg for one season. According to Bild, the loan fee was 250,000 euros, and Mainz reportedly secured an option to buy.

Does Jenz want to stay in Mainz after the season? The 25-year-old said in an interview with Bild that he feels comfortable at the club: "I am enjoying my time in Mainz and feel very good here. My family also really likes it here, my wife enjoys the area a lot. The people are very friendly, the weather is nice. My son loves going to the stadium with his little flag and already sings 'Mainzer, Mainzer' loudly..."

However, Jenz is not ready to make a decision yet: "I am focusing on the remaining eight games, then we will see what happens."

Currently, Mainz are surprisingly in third place in the Bundesliga standings. Jenz is open about his dream of Champions League qualification: "We want to finish the season as well as possible. The Champions League would be great for the city and our fans. It would be amazing for the club to achieve such a goal. But, we still have eight 'finals' ahead of us. We will give our best!"
