Roma reportedly aim to snatch Leonardo Balerdi from Marseille
Roma are targeting a move for Marseille’s 26-year-old Argentine defender Leonardo Balerdi. With the summer transfer window on the horizon, AS Roma have already begun negotiations with OM to bolster their backline, offering Claudio Ranieri fresh options for his three-man defense.
Balerdi fits the profile Roma are after, and the player is reportedly keen on the switch, encouraged by compatriots Paulo Dybala and Leandro Paredes at the club.
The deal could be sealed for around €20 million, per Tuttomercatoweb, despite Balerdi’s contract with Marseille running until 2028. OM paid €11 million for him in 2021, and this season, the Boca Juniors product has been a mainstay under Roberto De Zerbi, starting all 22 of his Ligue 1 appearances. De Zerbi recently praised him publicly, making this a situation to watch.
