Spalletti: 'Italy showed good football at San Siro and if we play like that again - we’ll win'
23 March, 11:08
Italy national team head coach Luciano Spalletti has commented on the upcoming Nations League quarter-final second leg against Germany:
"We’re starting from a disadvantage, but we need to replicate what we did on Thursday. We played well then, even though we lost.
"Germany are a strong side, but we showed good football at San Siro, and if we can perform like that again, I’m confident we’ll bring home the win.
"Memories of 2006 and that tournament’s success are still alive. We want to draw on that in our game. Those players are icons, and without memories, life is nothing. This is our legacy, and we must work for the history of Italian football," Spalletti said.
The second leg between Germany and Italy takes place on March 23 at 8:45pm CET.
