Leonardo: 'Along with Paolo Maldini, a significant part of Milan’s passion left'
Brazilian former player, manager, and executive of Milan, Leonardo, has shared his thoughts on the importance of the Italian legend to the club’s structure in an interview with QS.
Leonardo stated that the club lost a significant part of its passion when Paolo Maldini was dismissed in June 2023. The legendary former defender had been the technical director of the Rossoneri for four years, succeeding Leonardo in that position.
"Should Milan’s spirit be stronger? It was that way with Paolo Maldini. Under him as technical director, the club won the Scudetto and reached the semifinals of the Champions League. Then he was fired, and along with him, a significant part of the passion left. Now, everyone sees Milan as empty and soulless. But this will pass. Moreover, I believe the club understand that they made a mistake," said Leonardo, according to Football Italia.
