Enzo Maresca explains thinking behind starting Cole Palmer and Nicolas Jackson vs Legia

After the 2-1 defeat to Legia, Enzo Maresca was asked why he decided to include Cole Palmer and Nicolas Jackson in the starting lineup instead of resting them for the Fulham game this weekend.
"The idea was for them, especially for Nico, the idea to play with him was to continue to build physical condition," the Chelsea head coach explained.
"Cole had a small problem before the break and it was to use him for 45 minutes/an hour to build some tempo.
"For sure, if they were able to score goals it would be a good boost for them," he added, with both players on long dry spells.
This drought did not end for them on Thursday night, as Chelsea's only goal was scored by their most prolific player in 2025, Marc Cucurella.
