'For sure, tonight was a setback': Enzo Maresca delivers verdict on Legia defeat
"For sure we are not happy with the defeat," Enzo Maresca said at a press conference after Chelsea lost to Legia 2-1 at Stamford Bridge.
"Probably the first leg with 0-3 we tried to manage the result and rotated players to avoid injuries because we have an important game on Sunday. For sure, we are not happy with the result despite being in the semi-final.
"For sure, tonight was a setback for us," he added.
"We lost a game. The other clubs like Villa, Newcastle have more confidence around them but things in football can change quick. Sunday, for us, is a final and can be a boost to reach our target."
Thanks to a 3-0 lead after the first leg, Chelsea have managed to qualify for the Conference League semi-finals where they will face Djurgarden.
Still, such a result is unlikely to placate fans who have been unhappy with Maresca for a while and booed the team at the final whistle tonight.
