French media can't stop criticizing Kylian Mbappe for Real Madrid disaster
French media have turned against Kylian Mbappe following Real Madrid's disastrous performance in the Champions League quarter-final against Arsenal.
Former France player Jérôme Rothen labelled Mbappe a 'failure' in Spain despite signing for his dream club.
"People talk about Kylian Mbappé. He came to his dream club with the ambition of winning every trophy, including the Champions League, and of being among the best players in the world to win the Ballon d'Or. Collectively and individually, he's a failure," Rothen said.
"He [Mbappe] won't win the Ballon d'Or this year. He's a resounding failure. At the beginning of the season, mitigating factors were found. He could have been given some time to adapt. But when you're Mbappé, the adaptation time is shorter. He's scored a lot of goals, but in the game [against Arsenal], he's catastrophic."
Mbappe was slammed heavily by all the major news outlets in France like L'Équipe , Le Parisien and RMC Sport. They all recalled Mbappe's quote from 2023 when he said: "If I were to tie my future to the Champions League, without any disrespect, I would have left this club [PSG] a long time ago.”
Those comments didn't sit well with people in France then and now they use it to bash Mbappe after he couldn't help Real Madrid as they got eliminated from the quarter-final, while PSG remain in the competition.
