Antonio Conte: 'Congratulations to Inter, they show that Italian football is on a high level'
Ahead of Napoli’s upcoming match against Monza, coach Antonio Conte has spoken to the press during a press conference at the Castel Volturno training centre. The Napoli manager addressed several key topics, including his team's current position in the league, the pressure of securing Champions League qualification, and praised Inter Milan for their recent success.
"First and foremost, our goal is to secure a place in the Champions League," Conte said. "We have the chance to get closer to a prestigious achievement that, at the start of the season, we couldn’t have expected. But now we’re here, and we’ll continue to give it our all until the very end."
Despite the pressure, Conte emphasized that Napoli’s ambition has always been to compete at the highest level, and he remains determined to guide the team to a strong finish in the league.
"Even though we haven’t won away in a while, we’re second, just three points behind Inter," Conte added. "That’s thanks to the consistency we’ve shown both at home and away. Our aim is to keep pushing and get back to winning, particularly on the road."
When asked about Inter’s recent success, especially their achievement in reaching the semifinals of a European competition, Conte quickly offered his congratulations.
"Congratulations to Inter," Conte said. "They’ve earned their place in the semifinals by beating a strong team, and as someone who faces them as an opponent, I have to give them credit. You didn’t need this match to see how strong they are. They’re competing in every competition, and that helps strengthen the league. This is their third consecutive year... it could be a one-off, but if it happens every year, it shows that Italian football is at a high level."
Conte also took a moment to address Napoli’s fans, who will travel to Monza to support the team. "Keep dreaming," he said. "We’re doing something beyond expectations, and we need to keep fueling their dreams. We know it’s not easy—it hasn’t been easy so far—but we’ll keep pushing with everything we’ve got."
As Napoli heads into the final stretch of the season, the pressure is on to secure a spot in next season’s Champions League and continue challenging for the top spots.
