'The best sound I ever heard': Amorim inspired by Old Trafford atmosphere after thrilling win over Lyon
Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim was full of emotion following his side’s dramatic 5-4 extra-time victory over Lyon in the UEFA Europa League quarter-final second leg at Old Trafford.
With the aggregate score locked at 2-2 after the first leg in France, United delivered a rollercoaster performance that saw them edge past the Ligue 1 side in a nine-goal thriller, capped by decisive goals from Kobbie Mainoo and Harry Maguire.
"I think, if you see the goal of Kobbie and Harry Maguire, the sound of the stadium was the best sound I ever heard. You want to keep that.
"Sometimes people want to keep a lot of things, shirts and, I just want to keep that sound. It’s the best sound in the world. It’s a special moment.
"And, we know again, we know that we are underperforming. We deserve all the critics, but we still have time to make something special of this season, so we have to think like that and to be positive," Amorim has shared.
