'We knew he was suffering and nobody knew how it would end': Messi on how Tito Vilanova's illness and death affected him
2
Lionel Messi has opened up on former Barcelona manager Tito Vilanova's fight with cancer and his death in 2014.
"What happened to Tito affected us a lot," admitted Messi in an interview with Simplemente Futbol.
"He wasn't always with us, but we felt everything that was happening, we knew he was going through difficult times, that he was suffering and nobody knew how it would end.
"Of course, this affected the team in one way or another. It was a tough season in every sense of the word because of everything that happened".
