Murphy on Mainoo: 'Letting him go would be madness'
13
Danny Murphy believes Manchester United should not sell Kobbie Mainoo.
"The incredible 5–4 win over Lyon reminded everyone how crazy it would be to let Mainoo leave Old Trafford," he wrote.
Murphy praised Mainoo's maturity and composure, saying he’s a rare talent who can handle pressure at a young age. Despite some defensive flaws and injuries, Murphy thinks Mainoo is more than capable and should not be limited to one midfield role.
He understands financial pressures, but insists United lack midfield talent, with players like Casemiro and Eriksen aging. Selling Mainoo would force the club to spend as much—or more—on a replacement.
"If I were Amorim, I’d ensure Mainoo stays. I'd be shocked if he left this summer," Murphy concluded.
