Lamine Yamal sends message to Barca and Spain coaches after Laureus award
Barcelona and Spain forward Lamine Yamal has been named the Breakthrough of the Year at the 2025 Laureus World Sports Awards ceremony in Madrid.
The 17-year-old sensation expressed his gratitude after receiving the prestigious award, saying, "Hello everyone, I would have loved to be there with you tonight, but it wasn't possible.
"I want to thank the Laureus Academy, it's a great honour for me and my family to receive this kind of award. I can't forget the technical staff of the national team and Barça!"
Yamal's impressive performances for both club and country earned him the award, beating out other talented nominees including Julien Alfred, Summer McIntosh, Letsile Tebogo, and Victor Wembanyama.
His achievements include becoming the youngest player to appear in the European Championships and helping Spain win the tournament.
The teenager has had a remarkable season, playing a pivotal role in Barça's success with six goals and 12 assists in LaLiga and three goals in the Champions League.
