Football agent Andre Curi: 'Vinicius was ready to join Barcelona, Madrid offered 100 million more for Neymar'

Football agent Andre Curi has revealed that Vinicius Jr. was close to joining Barcelona before his move to Real Madrid. In an interview with AS, Curi explained how the deal broke down despite everything being in place.

“We met with Vinicius and his agents. Everything was ready for him to become a Barcelona player,” Curi said. “But at the last moment, his family and representatives changed their minds. It wasn’t a very transparent decision, but that’s how football works.”

Curi also spoke about Neymar’s transfer from Santos. He claimed that Real Madrid were ready to pay much more than Barcelona. “Madrid offered 100 million more than Barcelona for Neymar,” he said. “But Neymar chose Barcelona, with our help, of course. If I had been working for Madrid, maybe he would have gone there instead.”

He added that PSG later tried to get Vinicius in a deal involving. “PSG didn’t want to let go of Neymar or Mbappe,” Curi said. “And Madrid didn’t want to part with Vinicius. It became a situation of ‘I won’t give you this player if you won’t give me that one.’ PSG played it very smartly.”
