Former Brazil coach Tite announces career break to focus on health

Former Brazil national team coach Tite has announced an indefinite break from his professional career to focus on his mental and physical health. The 63-year-old made this decision after experiencing a heart issue in August 2024, which led to his hospitalization, and following his departure from Flamengo in September 2024.

In a statement shared by his son, Matheus Bachi, on social media, Tite expressed the importance of acknowledging personal vulnerability and prioritizing well-being. He mentioned that after discussions with his family and reflecting on his health, he decided to take a break from his career to care for himself.

Tite had been in talks with Corinthians about returning to the club, where he had previously achieved significant success, including winning the 2012 Copa Libertadores and the FIFA Club World Cup. However, these discussions have been halted due to his decision to step back from coaching

Prior to his time with the national team, Tite had a distinguished club career, notably with Corinthians, where he led the team to multiple titles. His tenure as Brazil's head coach from 2016 to 2022 included a Copa America victory in 2019. After leaving the national team, he took over as head coach of Flamengo but was dismissed in September 2024.

Tite's decision underscores the growing recognition of the importance of mental health in professional sports. His choice to prioritize his well-being serves as a reminder of the pressures faced by individuals in high-profile coaching roles. As he takes this time for recovery, the football community continues to support his decision and wishes him a full and speedy recovery.
