Ilaix Moriba calls for Ansu Fati to join him at Celta Vigo

In a surprising turn of events, FC Barcelona forward Ansu Fati could be headed for a move away from the Catalan club this summer, with his former teammate Ilaix Moriba hoping to reunite with him at Celta Vigo.

Despite a solid 1-0 victory over RCD Mallorca in their most recent La Liga match, where Fati was given a rare starting role in place of Raphinha, the 21-year-old’s future at Barcelona remains uncertain. Hansi Flick has continued to rotate his squad, and while Fati impressed during the match, it seems clear that he will not be a key player under the German manager going forward.

As Barcelona look to reshape their squad, Fati is expected to seek a new destination, with several clubs already showing interest. According to AS, one of those potential destinations could be Celta Vigo, where his former Barcelona teammate, Ilaix Moriba, is currently playing on loan from RB Leipzig.

Moriba, who has been in strong form for Celta Vigo, recently posted a motivational message on Instagram following their win against Villarreal. The post read: “Fight and fight, all together.” Fati, who clearly remains close with Moriba, responded with a blood drop emoticon, a symbolic gesture of support and a nod to Moriba’s determined attitude.

Fans quickly began speculating about the possibility of a reunion between the two at Celta. One fan commented, “Yeah man, this guy is coming to play in Europe alongside Iago and Ferlo up front,” to which Moriba cheekily replied with a tired face and two hands pressed together in a pleading gesture, clearly hinting at his desire for Fati to join him at Celta.

While Moriba’s future at Celta is still up in the air, as he is currently on loan from Leipzig with an option for the club to make the move permanent for €5m, Celta are reportedly hoping to negotiate a lower fee for the midfielder.

With both players potentially looking for new opportunities this summer, the prospect of a reunion at Celta Vigo seems to be a real possibility, and the Barcelona duo could soon be back playing together in La Liga.
