Arne Slot on major change he made from Klopp's reign: ‘Make sure we got as many players available’
Arne Slot has admitted that he desperately wanted to improve the overall fitness level of the Liverpool squad he inherited from Jurgen Klopp.
The Dutchman stated: "We inherited a team that played for the past six, seven or eight years a major part in English football. The players had a lot of qualities.
“The only thing we had to do is make sure we got as many players available as we could every single time.
“Apart from that, we wanted to continue on the work Jurgen did and add a few things, but adding certain things is something we have to do next season again as well.
“I think our competitors will try to become better next season again as well. That’s what they did in the last few seasons. That’s why they’re probably going to try next season as well, but it’s definitely what we’re going to try also.”
Slot is set to do something that even Klopp couldn’t, which is win the Premier League title in his first season as Liverpool boss. The Reds can secure the title with a win over Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday (27 April).
