Liverpool fans face £3,000 ticket prices ahead of potential title-sealing clash vs Spurs
Excitement is reaching fever pitch on Merseyside as Liverpool prepare to face Tottenham Hotspur at Anfield this Sunday, April 27, - a match that could see them crowned Premier League champions in front of fans for the first time since 1990.
Arne Slot’s side are just one point away from securing the title, and the demand for tickets has skyrocketed. On secondary resale sites, tickets with a face value of £61 are being listed for over £3,000. Madrid-based site LiveFootballTickets is offering seats in the Main Stand for £3,248.70, while £30 away-end tickets are selling from £414.70 and up, reports The Athletic.
The 60,500-seat stadium is already a sell-out, and Liverpool have issued warnings to fans not to purchase from unofficial sources due to the risk of counterfeit or cloned tickets.
Liverpool have taken significant steps in recent years to fight ticket touting. Data reveals that international fans - many visiting Anfield for the first time - are especially vulnerable. Organised crime groups, both local and international, are now deeply involved in illicit ticketing operations.
In response, Liverpool have intensified their security measures. Last season alone, they shut down nearly 100,000 fake accounts, cancelled 1,500 tickets, and issued 47 lifetime bans along with 136 indefinite suspensions. Cyberattacks targeting member ticket sales in July and November further highlighted the scale of the problem.
Liverpool’s ticket allocation includes 28,000 season ticket holders, 11,000 hospitality seats, and around 3,000 tickets for visiting fans. The remaining tickets are distributed to club members via a ballot system. The season ticket waiting list has been closed since 2017.
Currently sitting 12 points clear of second-placed Arsenal with a game in hand, Liverpool are on the verge of clinching their second league title in five years. Their last triumph in 2019–20 under Jurgen Klopp came behind closed doors due to the COVID-19 pandemic - making this season’s title race even more special for supporters.
