Victor Boniface happy to have played against Thomas Muller: 'It deserves huge respect'
Since early April, it has been known that Thomas Muller will not receive a new contract and will leave FC Bayern Munich in the summer, though the long-time player of the German record champions intends to continue his football career.
The 35-year-old is a major legend in German football. In an interview with bundesliga.com, Victor Boniface commented on Muller's departure and expressed his happiness about playing against him: "I think he is a great, great footballer and generally a great person. After a match, he sometimes came to me and said that I had played well and should keep it up."
"When a player like him says that – it deserves huge respect," said the Bayer Leverkusen striker. "Outside of football, I see him as a funny person, just like I am, so I really respect him."
