Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim selected a strong starting XI against Bournemouth, in part to prepare for Thursday’s Europa League semi-final against Athletic Club.
Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola, a Basque native and former Athletic Club stalwart with over 500 appearances for his hometown club, employs a similar 4-2-3-1 formation and high-energy playing style to that of Athletic manager Ernesto Valverde.
Amorim saw the match at the Vitality Stadium as an ideal dress rehearsal, using the tactical similarities to fine-tune United’s approach ahead of the crucial first-leg encounter.
