Antonio Rudiger has had surgery after suffering a partial rupture in the external meniscus of his left leg. Real Madrid confirmed the operation was a success.
"Rudiger has been successfully operated on today for a partial rupture in the external meniscus of his left leg," the club said in an official statement.
The German defender is expected to be out for between six to eight weeks while he recovers from the injury.
His absence adds to Real Madrid's defensive concerns as they enter a crucial phase of the season.
