Haris Tabakovic could return to Hertha after just one year – reports

In summer 2024, Hertha BSC have sold striker Haris Tabakovic to TSG Hoffenheim for a base fee of around €3 million. But in Sinsheim, the Bosnian has struggled: he rarely starts and has scored only three goals in 30 competitive appearances.

According to Bild, Tabakovic may return to Hertha after just one year. He was a fan favorite in Berlin, and club officials are reportedly working on bringing the 30-year-old striker back.

In the 2023/24 season, Tabakovic was the top scorer in the 2. Bundesliga with 22 goals for Hertha.

However, his salary is a major obstacle: the estimated €2 million he earns at Hoffenheim is beyond Hertha’s budget. The club also can’t afford a high transfer fee. Whether Tabakovic wants to stay at TSG, given his poor prospects there, is unclear.

Bild reports that Hertha are banking on the “feel-good factor” for Tabakovic and dreams of reviving the Tabakovic-Reese strike partnership. The chance to push for promotion together might also convince Reese to stay at the club.
