Jorge Valdano: 'It feels like Real Madrid thought with Mbappe they'd win everything. But in Barcelona, it's the opposite'
Jorge Valdano has described the difference in mentality between Real Madrid and Barcelona this season.
"Barcelona didn’t know what to expect this season, partly because Madrid had just won the Champions League and La Liga and signed Mbappe, which gave them a moral boost. It felt like the Madrid players thought, 'Well, we won everything without Mbappe, but with Mbappe, we’ll win everything, even without running.'
And I think Barcelona came to the completely opposite conclusion: either we wake up, run, sacrifice ourselves, or we make fools of ourselves. And we see the result: this team gives everything, while Real Madrid, after so many ups and downs, still hasn't found their lineup or their style of play in April," said the former Real Madrid player on Movistar+.
